| Then there is the often-repeated, "separation of church and state," as if we are never to say anything about our culture or the political situation in America or any of those matters. I suppose that many people in America today who have been deceived by the ACLU distortion of the First Amendment would be astonished to learn that Thomas Jefferson, among many other things he did of a Christian nature, encouraged many of his friends, who were ministers, to run for public office. Thomas Jefferson said to get in there and get involved. Well, we need to hear that word today. |

| Politics has more and more left its own proper realm and obtruded itself into every realm of culture imaginable, such as abortion. By the way, politics always obtrudes itself in the same way: by picking out a particular sin, giving it an imprimatur, and declaring it to be legal. For almost 2,000 years, abortion has been a moral and spiritual issue within the Church. Then the government comes along and says that it is legal, so now it is all right. It is considered all right to pull a baby three-fourths of the way out of its mother's womb and stick a pair of scissors in the back of its neck and kill it. So, here we see the politicizing of culture. |
