Seminar Offers Answers on Christians and Politics

Pastors and laymen are often unclear about what the Bible (and the federal government) say about speaking out on cultural and political issues.

Pastors, Pulpits, and Politics: Christian Rules of Engagement offers answers and outlines the rules for Christian political involvement.

Seminar speakers are Gary DeMar, President of American Vision; Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council; Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel; and Jordan Lorence, Senior Counsel and Senior Vice President of Alliance Defense Fund. The American Family Association and Vision America, along with the seminar speakers’ organizations, are co-sponsors with Coral Ridge Ministries of the event.

Biblical and Legal Answers

The seminar offers answers to questions like: “Does the Bible allow Christians to engage in political and social activism?” and “What do IRS regulations allow churches and nonprofit organizations to do?”

“We want to reassure pastors and Christians that it is OK to talk from the pulpit about what the Bible says in relation to abortion, homosexuality, taxation, and other issues, and that there is no IRS prohibition for doing that,” said Gary DeMar.

“What pastors can’t do is endorse a presidential candidate or political party,” he said. “But pastors can certainly inform congregations about the issues. If they don’t, the day may come when they can’t even speak about the issues.”
