The standard example of Chutzpah is the boy who murders his parents and asks for leniency because he’s an orphan.
Something close to that spirit is in “An Open Letter to Religious Leaders on Abortion as a Moral Decision,” signed by 1,000 alleged “religious leaders.” They actually insist that abortion on demand is a divine imperative, and that God wants taxpayer funding for abortion in the federal health care plan.
Listen to this: “The sanctity of human life is best upheld when we assure that it is not created carelessly…. It is precisely because life and parenthood are so precious that no woman should be coerced to carry a pregnancy to term.”
Come again? Human life is so “precious,” it’s necessary to kill some babies? This is beyond Chutzpah. How about—just plain evil.
The letter was hatched by the Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice, and Healing. That’s the nutty group headed by Debra Haffner, formerly of the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S., which promotes graphic sex education and homosexuality to kindergarteners.
At times like these, it’s comforting to remember that one day God will turn what’s upside down right-side up, and all of this will be judged for what it is.
We hope this has helped you learn to discern—and that you’ll share this with a friend.
