President Obama recently spoke at a dinner for the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual advocacy organization. In his speech, the president dismissed critics of homosexual marriage as regressive and old-fashioned.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: “There are still fellow citizens, perhaps neighbors, even loved ones—good and decent people—who hold fast to outworn arguments and old attitudes, and who fail to see your families like their families.”
Unfortunately, on this issue President Obama is dismissing the Word of God as outmoded. The apostle Paul in the New Testament describes homosexual behavior as unnatural and says, “neither the sexually immoral . . . nor men who practice homosexuality . . . will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, ESV).
Those are uncomfortable words in these politically correct times, but God is not concerned with political correctness. In his love for the world, He tells us what will lead us to destruction—and offers us good news.
Paul immediately adds, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11, ESV).
That is Jesus Christ’s message of true love to homosexuals, not President Obama’s counterfeit.
