Scrooge! The Old Grouch
Returns in CRM TV Special
He’s back! Scrooge, that tight-fisted, ill-tempered old miser returns to television this Christmas. Yes, that grasping, clutching, covetous old sinner is back in Scrooge & Marley, a dramatic comedy and modern parable from Coral Ridge Ministries that premieres Christmas week on nationwide television and December 29/30 on The Coral Ridge Hour.
Set to air when more families are watching TV together than at any other time during the year, Scrooge & Marley is a unique event in Christian filmmaking, joining superb family entertainment to a gripping story of spiritual transformation.

Spiritual Hunger
Shot on film this past September in Fort Lauderdale and Universal Studios in Los Angeles, with a cast and crew of more than 90 people, Scrooge & Marley comes at a time of great spiritual openness. Not only will it air as Christians worldwide celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, but while our nation is at war and many are desperately seeking answers.
In this adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol, writer/director Fred Holmes, an experienced Hollywood film and television director
with The Wonder Years, Doogie Howser, and the PBS children’s series, Wishbone, to his credit, deftly moves from light comedy to drama in this one-hour presentation set in the quaint fictional New England town of Winterset, Connecticut.

Scrooge, the Lawyer
In this fresh retelling, Scrooge, played by Disney movie legend Dean Jones (46 films, five Broadway shows), returns as an atheist and personal injury lawyer who, no surprise, hates Christmas with a passion. Incensed at a manger scene outside City Hall, Scrooge vows to remove it for good. As a firm believer in the separation of church and state, and as president of the local chapter of “Atheists Are Us,” he is ready and able to rid the town of the little Christ child resting in a manger.
Enter Marley, played by actor Reg Grant. Long deceased, Marley returns with a message for his former law partner: Jesus Christ, more than anyone else, has transformed human existence to the good. With help from expert witness Dr. D. James Kennedy, Marley shows Scrooge a few of the many benefits Christ and Christianity have brought to this world, including respect
