Flanked by representatives from some of the more than 30 pro-family groups that have joined the Shake the Nation Back to Life campaign, Janet Folger, national director of the
Center for Reclaiming America, announced the campaign’s re-launch at a press conference in Washington, D.C., on January 14.
The campaign first began last September, but was postponed following the terrorist attacks of September 11. The campaign’s re-launch includes a second TV ad featuring three figures prominent in the legalization of abortion: Norma McCorvey, the “Roe” of
Roe v. Wade; Sandra Cano, the “Doe” of Doe v. Bolton; and Dr. Bernard Nathanson, a co-founder of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL). All three are now pro-life. The TV spot aired nationally during January on Fox and CNN. “We’re taking the pro-life message to the American people,” Folger told the media.
Baby Rattles
The campaign’s centerpiece is the delivery of thousands of baby rattles to U.S. senators urging a return to legal protection for unborn children. “These rattles are being sent as a reminder to our senators of what abortion is really about,” Folger said. “More than 41,000 rattles have already been |
purchased to send to the Senate, and thousands more are expected to be purchased over the coming months as a vacancy on the United States Supreme Court is anticipated.”
“Each of those rattles is sent in a clear plastic package with a personal note to the senator from a constituent urging them to confirm pro-life nominees.” A separate personal letter of encouragement will also be delivered to President Bush with each rattle order.
