No
war is won on defense. Much as America adopted after 9/11 a
pro-active strategy to win the war on terror, pro-family
Christians must take the offensive, if we are to have any
hope of prevailing in our domestic culture war—a conflict
whose casualties now include some 44 million unborn
children.
“Just as in the war on terror, we cannot sit back and
let the enemy strike again,” said Dr. Kennedy. “We must take
the battle to them. That is exactly what I want to do by
taking the Center for
Reclaiming America to the next level.”
Washington Office
That next level entails three new major projects to take the
initiative in the fierce battle for America’s soul. This
three-pronged $600,000 expansion of the
Center for Reclaiming
America’s outreach will include a lobbying office in
Washington, D.C., a dramatic enlargement of our grassroots
network, and a “think tank.”
The aim is to restore and return to all Americans those
inalienable God-given rights the Founders identified in the
Declaration of Independence: the rights to life, liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness. Given by God and enshrined in
the Declaration of Independence, these precious freedoms
have been eroded or distorted in the last 50 years.
Today, children in the womb may be killed, while
pornographers are free to peddle their wares on the
Internet. Students are censored from praying at graduation,
but burning the American flag is free speech. And a law
banning sodomy is overturned by Supreme |
Court edict, while the Ten
Commandments are wheeled out of a state courthouse.
“The Center for
Reclaiming America is simply standing where the
Founders have stood and asking God to be brought back
into the middle of our national dialogue,” said Dr. Gary
Cass, the Center’s
new executive director.
“Because our nation has turned away from God in its
public life, now we see all of these evils coming in to
our culture,” said Dr. Cass, a former pastor and elected
school board member.
“The Center for
Reclaiming America is simply saying, ‘Enough is
enough,’ because we know that these God-given ancient
paths that this nation has been built upon are the way
to lead this nation into future blessings.”
The Center’s
new lobbying arm in Washington, D.C., will help return
God to the national dialogue and make it possible for
the Center
to go on both defense and offense. “We want to lobby and
defend our values,” said Dr. Cass, “as well as promote
our values, and then, to be part of initiating good,
family-friendly, pro-life, wholesome legislation that
can really be a blessing to our nation in the future.”
One project certain to occupy the new office is the push
for passage of the Federal Marriage Amendment.
Grassroots Clout
That legislative effort and others will be aided by the
grassroots clout of the
Center’s
new National Grassroots Alliance. Already 500,000
strong, the goal is to build the
