| Pastors Rally Against the New Hate Crimes Law WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 16, 2009) -- On a sunny autumn day in Washington, a group of pastors and legal experts held a press conference at the Justice Department to protest the new federal hate crimes law and deliver a letter to the attorney general.
| Hey Starbucks, Hold the Mush, Just Serve Java I needed a lift this afternoon, so I stopped at a Starbucks today in northern Virginia. My medium-sized cup was decorated with drawn Christmas ornaments bearing the words “Wish,” “Hope,” “Bright,” and “Peace.” Very nice. But one large ornament had this message:
| The Health Bill’s Stealth Homosexual Agenda As the Senate works behind closed doors to combine the newly passed House health care takeover bill with two Senate versions that have already passed separate committees, special interest groups are rallying their members to lobby for favored provisions. The House bill, the Affordable Health Care for America Act (3962), passed on Nov. 7 by a vote of 220 to 215. The Senate’s timetable is unclear, with Majority Leader Harry Reid pledging to complete a bill before Christmas, but many observers say that this is unlikely because of the sheer immensity of the proposal and the growing opposition.
| From Darwin to Death The radio talk-show host sounded skeptical—even incredulous. "So to sum up," she asked me, "you see a direct connection between the scientific view of evolution and just about every instance of genocide in the twentieth century?"
| House Passes Health Takeover in Late-Night Vote Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 -- Despite an enormous pushback of e-mails, calls, faxes and a rally of 10,000 people on Capitol Hill on Thursday, the House voted 220 to 215 late Saturday night to pass the massive ObamaCare health takeover plan. The 1,990-page bill, titled the "Affordable Health Care for America Act" (HR 3962), now goes to the Senate, where it is expected to face far more opposition.
| Massive Protest at Capitol Building to Stop Health Care Takeover (Nov. 5, 2009) I just returned from Capitol Hill, where on a bright sunny day more than 10,000 people rallied on the West side of the Capitol on Thursday to protest the push by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to vote quickly on the government health care takeover bill. Many in the crowd later went over to the House office buildings to try to lobby their congressmen. Some tried to see Pelosi herself, but were turned away.
| Obamacare’s Scary October Surprise Stung by a rising tide of resistance and a closing window of opportunity, House Democrats have unleashed a new version of Obamacare, weighing in at 1,990 pages and with a $1.2 trillion price tag. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promises to ram it through quickly, exhibiting a disdain for her countrymen that makes Marie Antoinette look like a populist.
| Dearborn Shoot Out
Luqman Ameen Abdullah, who was the Imam of the Masjid Al-Haqq mosque in Detroit, died in a shoot-out on Oct. 28 after firing on FBI agents during a raid in Dearborn, Michigan. Another seven Muslims were apprehended, and various weapons seized.
| Lifting Ban a Rank Disservice As would-be presidential advisors go, the gay rights movement is nothing if not cheeky.
| The Clergy Who Want an Abortion Ba’al Out Did you know that the Priests of Ba’al Coalition has weighed in on the health care debate?
